Welcome to the Burlington VT Bird Tracking Project; started in Winter 2016. This project aims to map bird sightings and signs of bird activity (woodpecker holes, nests, owl pellets, etc.) in the city. The data will be used to help identify key bird habitat and corridors.
All observations are welcome. We are particularly interested in sightings of less common bird species, large birds of prey, and migratory birds such as warblers.
We are also focusing special birding efforts on the Urban Wilds and other wilder parts of Burlington. This data will be compiled into a map and report to inform management of open space, with the goal of improving or maintaining habitat connectivity throughout the city.
