We are a group of researchers that work within the incredibly diverse plant genus Clarkia in the Onagraceae family. We're hoping to use iNaturalist to collect observations of any Clarkia species in North America (though most of the records will be in California, the hotspot for Clarkia diversity).
We're interested in how different Clarkia species are distributed across the range of the genus, and we use this information to ask all sorts of questions about the forces shaping species diversity and distributions -- from pollination and herbivory to soil nutrients, competition, and microbes.
If you don't know the exact species, don't worry! As long as you include a photo of the flower we can usually figure it out.
Thanks so much for contributing!
