Taxonomic notes: Section empty
This species is known only from two nearby localities in the state of Bahia, eastern Brazil, Ilhéus and Una, where occurs up to 60m asl. It probably occurs more widely, but its distribution is very poorly known.
In 1999, after an absence of records for 50 years, it was rediscovered at Una, where many specimens were found. However, there is still no clear picture of its overall population status, and it is probably a very hard species to detect when it is not breeding.
It lives in primary and secondary forest, and is probably an explosive breeder in temporary pools.
The major threats to this species are probably related to habitat loss due to agricultural development, logging, tourism and human settlement.
Listed as Data Deficient in view of continuing uncertainties as to its extent of occurrence, status and ecological requirements.
