Kilo: Connecting our Place, Nature, and Discovery

Purpose: One 1st Grade class will attempt to engage in a BioBlitz of our school campus to:

1. Discover the diversity of nature
2. Engage in our place
3. Try and connect what we find to learn more about our place
4. Make larger connections to our Social Studies standards, learn about our world, and ask more questions about our place
5. Help us create maps or descriptions of our school/neighborhood

We are also trying to use technology to help us organize, categorize, and describe our world. We will attempt a BioBlitz across the next 2 months. We will compare our findings with a Field Guide (hard copy created by teacher) to see if we can classify and compare what we found on our campus. Then, as a whole class, we will upload our findings onto the iNaturalist site. This is our first attempt and we will try to learn from this process together! less ↑
