LA Urban Coyote Project

The new frontier of wildlife research: The ecology of the urban coyote.

Los Angeles is the second most populous city in the country, and has been home to coyotes since its creation. We know now that there are some coyotes that spend their entire lives within the bounds of Los Angeles City. Beyond that, however, much of their ecology is shrouded in mystery.

The goal of this project through the Santa Monica Mountains National Park Service is to provide insight into the lives of coyotes living in Los Angeles, identify ways to minimize future human wildlife conflict in a humane and effective manner, and foster co-existence with urban wildlife. less ↑
