The County of Los Angeles Wildlife and Wildflower Sanctuaries are part of the Department of Parks and Recreation's Natural Areas. There are currently 14 different properties:
Acton Wash
Alpine Butte
Big Rock Creek
Blalock
Butte Valley
Carl O. Gerhardy
George Bones
Jackrabbit Flat
Longview
Mescal
Neenach
Phacelia
Theodore Payne
Tujunga Ponds
All of these total over 2,600 acres of open space that protects critical habitat, connectivity to other protected areas, wildlife corridors to promote movement of species, and vital natural food and water sources to the myriad of wildlife that call it home.
The purpose of this project is to catalog as many species as possible in all of the sanctuaries to provide a better scope of how vital these lands are for conservation.
