February's record of the month!

In recognition of the coldest February in recorded history, we’re highlighting jthill’s observation of a diving duck. With 96% of Lake Erie covered by ice, and many of our rivers ice-locked, diving ducks and gulls are congregating in whatever open water they can find. This results in a great opportunity to view many species of waterfowl in a small area.

This Canvasback (http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/1263381) is one of several attractive ducks that can be spotted in these winter congregations. Great photo jthill and thanks for contributing to the Lower Erie Region CSI!
