It's Duck Month!

Have you noticed iNaturalist’s “Critter Calendar”? We’re going to roll out our own version here at the Lower Lake Erie Region CSI! Every few weeks, we’ll highlight a different group of organisms and encourage folks to go out and document as many as you can.

February will be “Duck Month”! This is a great time of year to get out and observe a nice diversity of waterfowl congregating in small areas. These critters are relatively easy to photograph and are dressed in their finest plumage for our viewing pleasure. So get out to your favorite watering hole and let’s see what ducks, mergansers, and geese you can be post.

If you find yourself enjoying the natural beauty of Summit County Ohio, the good folks of Summit Metro Parks are also interested in any sightings of Northern Bobwhite. If you see any of these cool little quail, please post your observation and help area biologists conserve our natural resources.

Thanks and happy hunting!
