About

To record observation of large surviving American chestnuts (Castanea dentata). Large survivors are defined as trees greater than 10 inch diameter at breast height (4.5 ft above the ground). Large survivors may show signs of the chestnut blight.

Observers may also record large specimens of other Castanea species. (e.g. C. mollisima, C. sativa, C. crenata).
