Join Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) and the California Academy of Sciences for a grassroots, smartphone-powered bioblitz to document every living species we can find on Millerton Creek Ranch! This 864-acre ranch overlooking Tomales Bay near Point Reyes Station has been protected by MALT since November 2014.
You bring your smart phone (or digital camera) and tons of enthusiasm. We’ll rally some experts and folks who know the area. Together we’ll make some science!
The fun starts at 9 AM Saturday, June 27. Register for the event for more information, including directions for where to meet.
A Bio-Blitz is an intensive one-day study of biodiversity in a specific location. We’ll look for birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, butterflies, insects, spiders, trees, flowers, mushrooms, anything!
People of all ages and skill levels are welcome! Bring your smart phone with iNaturalist downloaded for sure. Bonus: camera, binoculars, and magnifying glasses. We’ll enter observations in iNaturalist and join together at the end to find out how many observations we made and how many species we found.
Brought to you by the Marin Agricultural Land Trust and the California Academy of Sciences.
