This project is led by Dr. Gary Casper through the UWM Field Station (http://www4.uwm.edu/fieldstation/), and is collecting wildlife data for the Milwaukee River Basin for several conservation and restoration initiatives, including the Milwaukee Estuary Area of Concern (AOC), where multiple stakeholders are developing plans to enhance fish and wildlife habitat and populations. Our biologists are currently collecting baseline data through wildlife and habitat surveys in the project area to help understand the existing conditions and develop habitat restoration priorities. Data entered here will assist this effort and may be used by local governments, planning agencies, NGOs, researchers and other stakeholders. We are collecting information on all vertebrates (fishes, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds), burrowing crayfish, mussels, dragonflies and damselflies. The study area includes the northern half of Milwaukee County, and all of Ozaukee and Washington counties.
Note that all data submitted here are viewable by the public. If you'd like to contribute data privately, please contact the project coordinator directly: Tina Kroening at KMKroening_AT_gmail.com
