UW Butterflies, Skippers, Moths
Stopped on the steps nearby a patch of flowers and shrubs; orange wings with black spots on bottom, white spots (about 8 total on each side) on the upper tips. Weather was warm and sunny, it sat there for a little while until I had to go by, but I'm wondering, does it like the heat of the pavement? If not what other reason would there be for butterflies to hang out on cement like this instead of only plants?
A collection of observations on the Butterflies, Skippers, Moths of the University of Washington, and the plants that attract them. We aim to spread and share information about the history and current nature of these insects, through species accounts and observations.
