B impatiens tends to be more "fluffier." This bee has shorter, more manicured hairs. And it has a few dark brown hairs just below the bright yellow ones on the abdomen (brown belt). The eyes of B griseocollis also seem to bulge out more.

first one I've seen with an orange band, that wasn't ternarius!
On indigo bush in my yard. The bright orange on T2 made me think maybe i had affinis! But the photos let me see that, although brighter orange than for the usual gris, there is black at the outside corners, so it can't be B. affinis. Worker sized.
