I had to stop my car to avoid hitting this critter. He stayed still on the paved surface and was quite alive. After my photograph, he hopped happily away. There were dozens of this species appearing after the first rains to this region for the season. He measured about three cm SVL. He exhibited the characteristic eye stripe for this species.
Found near a marsh on the northern end of Crystal Springs reservoir.
Heard a very loud Sierran tree frog on top of the west buttress granite dome at Sugarloaf in Eldorado National Forest. Seemed to be hidden in a coast live oak. Only caught its final vocalization on record.
