This was my first opportunity (in many visits) to observe an alligator at LLELA.
This was my first late afternoon trip (as I usually go in the morning). I was on the second boardwalk waiting for some bird activity when I noticed what at first I thought was a log. Suddenly there was an eye, then two, followed by a snout. I spent the next 2 hours observing (or he was observing me?) and photographing. The only time he moved from that general area was to drift over to where an Egret had landed on a branch about 5 feet above the water. After a short assessment he reverted back to observing me. Maybe thought I was the better opportunity for dinner.
I estimate that he was 5 to 6 feet in length.
