Description

This species is rare in Vermont and only occurs on three of the highest peaks (Mount Abraham, Camel's Hump and Mount Mansfield). This patch is highly impacted by hikers but is still clinging to life.

Description from Wikipedia

Carex bigelowii is a species of sedge known by the common name Bigelow's sedge. It has a circumpolar or circumboreal distribution, occurring throughout the northern latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. It is present in Europe, Asia, and North America, where it occurs from Alaska to Greenland and in alpine climates as far south as Utah and Colorado.
