Description

They're usually high up in the canopy and very shy, so wild macaws can be pretty difficult to photograph in the wild. This was one of a pair, perched at the top of a roadside tree, between Iwokrama River Lodge and Research Centre and Atta Rainforest Lodge, Iwokrama Forest Reserve, Guyana, South America

Caught in the act! This red-and-green macaw is the largest macaw in South America and was regularly seen eating clay at this cliff at Tamopata. It was not the most often seen, but would come in (breeding) pairs or in small affine groups.
