Moderate-sized species, tail moderately short (14 to 19% of total length); Bright green dorsum with vertical yellow bars, often bordered with black or bluish, light ventrolateral stripes, very narrow head; Found in secondary forest close to Rio Chirripo Pacifico at about 1500 meters.
Seen dead on the road between Boquete and the head of the waterfall trail.
This happy viper had found a nice buffet hanging out in the hummingbird garden at Monteverde.

Our sharp-eyed guide spotted this guy a couple of meters off the path. Sorry for the poor quality; extremely difficult shot -- 1-second exposure using the ground as a tripod (guide asked us not to use flash).
