Description

The only record of this species in Hong Kong, as reported by Dr. Geoffery Herklots, is a single specimen dug up from a dried up pond in Stanley Village during World War II.

The Population of Hong Kong nowadays maybe reintroduced by Animal abandonment.

Description

Rare endagered forest turtle, endemic for Palawan. Found in muddy jungle rivers in primary forest areas and disturbed areas. Seriously threatened by the illegal wildlife trade.

The Geoemydidae (formerly known as Bataguridae) are the largest and most diverse family in the order Testudines (turtles), with about 70 species. The family includes the Eurasian pond and river turtles and Neotropical wood turtles.
