Description

A young female ( kitten ) of european wildcat in Rieti, Lazio, Italy....she frequents the place where I' m living. After two months of contacts I can caress and pick up her, but only while she's eating with other domestic cats. She has learnt to call me and day by day is less scared and more confident...and so tender! I named her "Piccola" ( "Little" ) ;)

Description

Large size, red-backed ears, black bars on forelegs and longer hindlegs are Wild Cat traits but this is very likely to be a hybrid given location (suburban area). Seen stalking wildfowl around the river at dawn.

Description from Wikipedia

The wildcat (Felis silvestris) is a small cat found throughout most of Africa, Europe, and southwest and central Asia into India, China, and Mongolia. Because of its wide range it is classed by the IUCN as Least Concern. However, crossbreeding with housecats is extensive and has occurred throughout almost the entirety of the species' range, potentially threatening the genetic diversity of the wild subspecies.
