Description

This fungus is genus laccaria. It was found under quaking aspen, they have a mycorrhizal relationship. They were small in numerous clusters. They're primary succession, meaning this old landfill is healing itself back to a normal ecosystem. These little fungi indicate such.

Description

In a huge field by my school I found a mushroom! I was suprised to find it there of all places, it didn't seem like a habitat made for mushrooms.

The Tricholomataceae are a large family of mushrooms within the Agaricales. A classic "wastebasket taxon", the Tricholomataceae is inclusive of any white-, yellow-, or pink-spored genus in the Agaricales not already classified as belonging to the Amanitaceae, Lepiotaceae, Hygrophoraceae, Pluteaceae, or Entolomataceae.
