Looks like a moldy rainbow in color. Flat, left eyed flatfish
Left eyed, large, pink color, straight lateral line, patterned dorsal fins. Found trawling in San Juan channel
Found trawling in the San Juan channel. The flat fish was left eyed and fairly large in size, being about 5 inches in length. The sanddab had large scales on its eyed side which were visible up close. The dorsal and anal fins of the fish additionally had light speckling patterns on them. The fish had a fairly large mouth and a very straight and visible lateral line.
seen while diving at the Monterey breakwater
This guy is a lefteye flounder for certain, the exact species I'm not quite sure about (I think I'm right though). Some gulls had caught it and were trying to eat it, so we shoo'd them away for a moment to take a picture. I only got the blind side, unfortunately, but the other side was mottled brown.
