The northern stretch of the Rocky River is full of gizzard shad right now. Plenty swimming in large schools and plenty dead/dying. Seagulls and other birds are feasting on the dead.

Herring run in the sf bay. The only time one sees them is as they are being plucked out by gulls or men. Shoreline areas between piers at least either side of the bay bridge have their fill of both gulls and boats. With sea lions plying the waters as well, though not in great numbers.
