Description

there are two quite different forms in this image and both are C. affinis, according to a Castilleja expert who has written on this location extensively. The patch on the left with the extended corolla that protrudes beyond the red calyx looks a bit like Franciscan paintbrush (C. subinclusa var. Franciscana). They apparently hybridize on the Point Reyes peninsula.
