Habitat: Native of Africa, Arabia and Mediterranean. A herbaceous
erect perennial shrub growing to 2 m high. Grows in disturbed sites amongst medium trees and tall shrubland around waterways, wasteland and disturbed natural vegetation sites such as roadsides.
Economic significance: Poisonous to livestock. Leaves can be used to treat headaches and tuberculosis and the roots can be used to relieve general aches and pains in the body.
