Concurrent species calling: Lithobates sphenocephalus
Found on the road after a day of rain.
NW of Houston
I picked up the sound of these Crawfish Frogs in the distance behind a group of Chorus Frogs I had pulled over to record.
there were at least 5 different spots along the local roads where Crawfish frogs were calling.
The crawfish frog (Lithobates areolatus) is a medium-sized species of frog native to the prairies and grasslands of the central United States. It gets its name because it inhabits the burrows of crayfish for most of the year.
