Zombitse sportive lemur, formally Hubbard'ssportive lemur, (Lepilemur hubbardorum)
IUCN Redlist: Data deficient
This lemur is only found in the Zombitse National Park and there is very little known about the species as it has not been studied in the wild
Tuesday: The research centre is based in the Ankarafa Forest on the Sahamalaza Peninsular of Madagascar. The forest is home to two critically endangered lemurs - the Blue Eyed Black Lemur and this one, the Sahamalaza Sportive Lemur. It is possible that neither species exists in the wild outside of this one forest. The sportive lemurs are currently being studied by Melanie, who is a PhD student, supported by Gabby.
The sportive lemurs are the medium sized primates that make up the Lepilemuridae family. The family consists of only one extant genus, Lepilemur, as well as the extinct genus Megaladapis. They are closely related to the other lemurs and exclusively live on the island of Madagascar. For a time, this family was named Megaladapidae, but the current name was given precedence.
