The genus Helichrysum (pronounced /hɛlɨˈkraɪsəm/) consists of an estimated 600 species, in the sunflower family (Asteraceae). The type species is Helichrysum orientale. The name is derived from the Greek words helisso (to turn around) and chrysos (gold).
