Low intertidal zone
Beaufirul ecklonia radiata in the low intertidal some
Local - in deep channels below low tide mark attached to serpentinite. This image from a specimen obtained by diving for it (water damn cold too!). Growing with Carpophyllum maschalocarpum (dominant), C. plumosum (scarce), Xiphophora chondrophylla (common) and Colpomenia (scarce).
In a tidal gut in the shallow sub tidal zone.
Always enjoy seeing this growing out in the open - makes it much easier to phootograph! *LOL*
Main tidal gut, shallow sub tidal zone.
