I realize this will probably be unpleasant to some, particularly those of us in the Bay Area, since the 4th edition Light's specifically mentions that L. hexactis is the invalid synonym, but this is how WoRMS treats these two species, and that's the authority we're trying to follow for marine inverts.

Oh dear lord, it accepts them both. Do you know how they're different? If we can separate them by geography we're going to have a lot of observations orphaned at genus level.
Unintended disagreements occur when a parent (B) is
thinned by swapping a child (E) to another part of the
taxonomic tree, resulting in existing IDs of the parent being interpreted
as disagreements with existing IDs of the swapped child.
Identification
ID 2 of taxon E will be an unintended disagreement with ID 1 of taxon B after the taxon swap
If thinning a parent results in more than 10 unintended disagreements, you
should split the parent after swapping the child to replace existing IDs
of the parent (B) with IDs that don't disagree.
Woo-hoo! WoRMS has changed it's tune: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=379050
Can we get L. aequalis back now? :)
