Heads up: Some or all of the identifications affected by this split may have been replaced with identifications of Gallinago. This happens when we can't automatically assign an identification to one of the output taxa. Review identifications of Gallinago gallinago 3917

Taxonomic Split 5090 (Committed on 2013-05-10)

Wilson's Snipe (Gallinago delicata) was considered to be a subspecies of the Common Snipe (G. gallinago) until 2003 when it was given its own species status. BirdLife/IUCN hasn't yet incorporated this split, but eBird has. New World Birds should be ID'd as G. delicata, old world birds as this narrower concept of G. gallinago.
