I am a retired wildlife biologist living in Austin, Texas. I studied the impacts of urbanization on birdlife for my graduate work, then worked in the private and public sectors in the environmental field for the past 40 years. My last gig was as the Wildlife Biologist at Balcones Canyonlands NWR here in Central Texas. I am interested in all things under the sun (and moon), but particularly energy flow in ecosystems, as well as the biogeography of birds and leps with an emphasis on endangered species. This picture of me was taken in Big Bend National Park, one of my favorite places on Earth. On that particular trip (August 2016), the desert around me was a riot of green, purple, pink, and yellow! Over my shoulders, you can see Ocotillo leafed out and several blooming Leucophyllum candidum shrubs. Photo credit: @greglasley.
