I'm an inventor with my laboratory in San Francisco. Since around 2000 I have been a technical mentor to the Nature Sounds Society, helping people with their equipment and fieldcraft. I am a soundscape recordist (differentiated from species recordist). I have been recording in 4-channel surround for many years. I get research permits and have recorded in many national parks. I have long-term projects in Muir Woods, Presidio of San Francisco, and Yosemite.
