I believe this is a very young Ocypode gaudichaudii. They are abundant on the beach, well camouflaged, whizzing over the sand. This carapace measured 1/4.

This poor Ecuadorian Hermit Crab has no shell! It's the first time I've found one without shell. Most of the hermit crabs on this beach have much smaller shells than this could use.

About a dozen limpets were clustered on two boulders. Their shells were beautifully sculpted, and a few appeared to return to their same locations, which were well worn.

These few chitons were gathered together on two boulders. Most were about 2" long. They were the only chitons I saw in Costa Rica. Their girdles reminded me of Snakeskin Chitons, common in Australia. @pliffgrieff would appreciate your opinion.

I'm not sure if this is a juvenile Ocypode gaudichaudii, with a carapace <1" across. The additional photos show the amazing sand patterns around their holes, and clustered on one far end of this beach. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00350731
