Description

Birds Unlimited boardwalk trail. What a pleasant surprise. This individual was in the mangroves near the road, and I only saw him/her because I was talking to someone in their car parked right above this bird. I said, "What's that grayish floof down there?" (It was only about 7:30am, and there were heavy shadows.) Then the heron flew up and landed on a branch RIGHT NEXT TO THE ROAD and looked at me and changed poses for several nice photos. I was not very steady and had to bump up my ISO and shutter speed (my old camera often goes grainy as low as ISO 400) but I still have a lot of shots that I like! I feel like this was a lucky morning!
