This is a pretty amazing story. After staring down a guy across the lot who was trying to sic his dog on the bird I just walked up to him and picked him up. Bundled up (pic #2) and ran him up to WildCare in Petaluma. They called with a diagnosis "...it's a very very severe fracture both his carpal and metacarpal both had compound fractures and severely displaced.." - seemed like a death sentence. They shuttled him over to International Bird Rescue in Cordelia. A surgeon there cancelled her flight out to work on the wing, tried some new repair technique, and months later the bird, with blue band X-26 was seen south of here in Half Moon Bay. Unbelievable ending.
