Description

Very small. Looks a lot like Bombylius pygmaeus (Pygmy Bee Fly) but the wing pattern (blotches) is very different from Pygmy (separated spots).

Description

It doesn't appear that it's some kind of injury damage as much as a deformity and, I understand, from A.K.D., (Avian Keratin Disorder). It's hard to believe she, a woodpecker, has survived to adulthood with this bill.
