Species account for closest match here, D. antoninum - also occurring on talus slopes: https://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/eflora_display.php?tid=22459. All the individuals we found on this talus slope had white sepals while the description in Jepson mentions blue. D. andersonii is a possibility as well: https://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/eflora_display.php?tid=22437.

Dead - found lying on sandy beach in strand line. A little surprised to see this as I have not seen this species on the Chatham Islands before and I have been going out there since 1996. However, the host plant (Gomphocarpus physocarpus) is on the island in private gardens - so there is no reason why this species should not be resident on the Chatham Islands.
