SM494. 20cm ss mb. Firebreak at top of ridge. Restioid fynbos. Locally very common. Suffulta or involvens(?). On left with SM491, at bottom right with SM489-491. Corolla white, cyathiform, finely hairy. Ovary with sparse, short hairs. Anthers dark reddish-brown, broad, arched, chinless, tips pointed, with short, fine protuberances all over, pores 2/3 length. Style protruding beyond anthers, stigma simple with segments.

Description

This beautiful showy plant is the "Pride of Hermanus." Erect, semi-spreading shrublet up to 60cm. Leaves stiff, down-curved in 4's. Flowers in umbels, purplish-pink, corolla long with white frilly bib. Very sticky corolla, however the the bib is not sticky. This I am told is to allow the pollinator to enter.
