As I was approaching the nest area, an adult flew out of the tree and caught a gopher snake. They took it to a branch then over to a cut off tree where I have seen them eat before. The adult had the snake around its leg and ate an unidentified mammal that was already dead up on the top of the stump. I did not see them take it to the nest.

Finally! Not in the nest that I suspected, but in a dirt scrape on the cliff side. 2 chicks (3rd egg did not hatch). I was using binoculars to look at this suspected nest, there is only one viewing spot, so I always stand in this spot, then I picked up my camera to snap a pic to view later, but as I was swinging it into place I saw urates, this this head slowly rose up from the dirt. I have been looking for them all season, and they were a couple of feet away from my face the whole time! They must have seen me 50+ times before.
