This species is Vulnerable in Australia, New South Wales and Queensland and yet iNaturalist does not have the species listed as Vulnerable. There may be a reason why but if not, then I thought I would bring it to your attention.

I updated the Taxa in accordance with the EPBC Act status.

@joecoolbrew I looks like you added a Global, Vulnerable "Federally listed by Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts" obscuring status?

I'd prefer not to use a global status if this can be sorted with an Australian status.

As far as Australian statuses, because we have a Australian Network node with ALA they've provided what they think should have obscuring Australian statuses and this wasn't on the list. Not saying one shouldn't deviate but it should be done in coordination with them (@carrieseltzer can you add more info here?)

Also looping in this flag https://www.inaturalist.org/flags/555473 where @craig-r says this doesn't warrant obscuring

I don't think this needs to be obscured as the open locations are available (e.g. on ALA and links at the top of https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species-search/details/?id=13202). The primary threats are habitat destruction, weed invasion, grazing/trampling by stock, fire (https://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/sprat/public/publicspecies.pl?taxon_id=15762)

@reecetaverner, @reiner and @gregtasney any thoughts on whether this needs to remain obscured?

Posted by craig-r about 2 years ago

Some species are listed because they just have a limited distribution, but may be abundant in that area. This appears to be the case here and I also don't think its like orchids where people dig them up so don't think this needs to be obscured.

Just for completeness of references, Floydia praealta is not listed in the ALA "sensitive species" lists for either QLD(1) or NSW(2). Locations are also not considered confidential by the QLD government(3)(4)

Thanks @reiner

I agree with Reiner and Craig. There is no need to obscure this species and it could be more of an advantage to leave it open to the public.

Ok, a consensus seems to have been reached so I'll update the status and open geoprivacy

Updated. Also added statuses for QLD and NSW
