Thanks for linking ot the paper jameskm. It sounds like if we went with Hypopitys though Monotropa hypopitys (which currently has over 2,500 obs) would be transferred to that genus. Since this would be such a disruptive change, and since there's some duplication at the moment. I propose we bring things in line with POWO at the moment to eliminate duplication. And if we want to later we can always come up with a deviation that would include the genus Hypopitys split off from Monotropa. So I'm going to make the following swaps to bring things in line with POWO:.
Hypopitys -> Monotropa
Hypopitys lanuginosa -> Monotropa hypopitys
Hypopitys hypophegea -> Monotropa hypopitys
Monotropa hypophegea -> Monotropa hypopitys
