wholesale synonymization of Illice with Cisthene was inappropriate. |

Current placement of Illice as synonym is appropriate but this requires further research. |
Looks like this was done by @tonykris https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/107489 - looping them in so curators can get on the same page - its hard for groups like this where there's no single/global reference we can follow

@tonykris any chance you can look at this?
On iNaturatlist, at some point the genus Illice was submerged in its entirety with Cisthene. One flag linked this to https://www.nic.funet.fi/, a secondary and inappropriate taxonomic source. The impetus for the FUNET synonymy of Illice under Cisthene may have been from Schmidt & Opler's 2008 "Revised checklist of the tiger moths of the Continental United States and Canada" (ZooTaxa 1677), but the latter synonymy was apparently intended to apply only to North American taxa. A large set of Central and South American Illice species were not addressed by Schmidt & Opler and probably should have been retained in a narrower concept of Illice. This all needs further review by an appropriate authority.
