is there a way to refresh the checklist to include existing observations?

I created the place in January 2023. A few days later, it has 21 species on the checklist (presumably those added since the place was created). But the place, in Explore, has 620 species confirmed by Research Grade observations. Is there a way to re-index so as to include these in the Place checklist? I can't see how to do that.

I think species have to be manually added. The 21 may have been added because when it was added to a parent someone chose to also add it to descendant places. Or, as you say, they may have been added since the place was created.

Thanks for your response, kitty12! I would be surprised if someone has manually added 21 species to the checklist in the few days since I created the place, and I don't think the place has any descendants, so I'm still puzzled about how those species got there. I found this iNaturalist blog post that mentions changes to how place checklists work, but I remain confused as to whether those changes have been implemented. It's not a huge deal for me, as the numbers are accessible through Explore, but I think it's a shame that the checklist is not populated automatically.

I think this might be a good topic for the forum. People other than curators have really good tips, and no one but curators really look at flags.

I mean that if it was manually added to a parent place with particular choices made when it was added, it might cascade down automatically. Sorry if I confused the issue.
