Plain-bellied Watersnake

Nerodia erythrogaster

Summary 2

The Plain-bellied Watersnake is a common watersnake over much of Bexar County where ever there is water. The color pattern of our central Texas Plain-bellied Watersnakes used to be known as the Blotched Watersnake (Nerodia erythrogaster transversa) due to the fact that adults retain the pattern of alternating blotches seen in the young.
