Grammia ornata, the Ornate Tiger Moth, is a moth of the Arctiidae family. It was described by Packard in 1864. It is found from southern British Columbia through the Pacific Northwest to southern California, northern Utah, and western Wyoming and Montana. It is found in a wide range of habitats, including open woodland.
Note the light-colored scales on the wing veins, running all the way down to the ends of the wings. I believe this is the only local tiger moth with this feature.
