Rattling Froglet

Crinia glauerti

Summary 2

The Rattling Froglet (Crinia glauerti) is sometimes called Glauert's Froglet or Clicking Froglet and is a species of frog in the Myobatrachidae family. It is endemic to southwest Western Australia. A highly variable small species and can be difficult to tell apart from the other 2 small Crinia in the area; the Bleating Froglet and the South Coast Froglet. As with all 3 of these species the call, belly marking, eye and toes will help differentiate them. This is further complicated by the differences between males and females, especially during breeding season. Always try and photograph these identifying features when posting observations to iNaturalist but when surveying make sure you wear disposable gloves to minimize biosecurity risk. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, rivers, shrub-dominated wetlands, swamps, freshwater lakes and marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss.
