Shape: Tree
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: males 1 ½-3 inch long string-like cluster, females short, stubby, and green with red styles
Leaves: pinnately lobes, bristle tips at end of lobes, sinuses between lobes indent less than halfway to midvein, 4-8 inches long, 4-5 ½ inches wide
Bark: grey with smooth “ski tracks” that run vertically
Fruit/Seed: acorn, ½-1 inch long, beret-like cap
Height: 60-80 feet
Flowering: May
Habitat: forest
