Shape: Multi-stemmed shrub
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: White simple shaped, 5 petals
Leaves: alternately arranged, 4-11 inches long and wide, 5 pointed lobes, palmate veins, base heart-shaped to deeply cleft, edges finely double-toothed
Bark: gray-brown, smooth, sheds
Fruit/Seed: round clustered berry, ½-3/4 inch diameter, pale pink to salmon colored to bright red
Height: 3-6 feet
Flowering: June - July
Habitat: open woods, woodland edges, forest clearings, thickets, stream banks
Other: Berries mushy and bland tasting
