Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Opposite
Flower: White rounded cluster
Leaves: egg-shaped, 1½-3 inches long, 1-2 inches wide, coarsely toothed, tapered to pointed tip, rounded base, underside hairy
Bark: brown/grey, smooth
Fruit/Seed: egg-shaped berry, ¼-1/2 inch diameter, purple/black
Height: 6-10 feet
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: hardwood and mixed forest understory, thickets
